Car Bio

My Story is a little different. I was ten years old when my dad bought Keystone Ford a dealership in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada ( 500 Miles North of Minneapolis). The very first exposure I had to mustangs was at the 1987 New Model intro. There it was, the "new" Mustang, it was a white GT Hardtop with a red interior. I must have stared at the taillights for an hour, and the sound was something I had never experienced before. The next spring my dad ordered a white GT Convertible, I remember fondly the days he and I would cruise around with the top down listening to the beach boys. Sadly, as this business goes, it was promptly sold, I cried for days, heartbroken that this thing, a car, had finally made the time for us to spend time together. See my father was a full time lawyer and ran other businesses; although is a great dad, growing up I never got to spend "fun" time with him.

He had some other great cars; I vividly remember cruising with him in his 66, 67, and 68 Mustang Convertibles. I remember the day Dad and I went to a classic car auction where he was bidding on a 1964 T-bird, he quit bidding on it and I, an 11 year old boy, raised my arm and stuck Dad with the car! He'd bought a yellow 1964 T-bird Convertible, and we were back cruising again. One day in 1987, a man came into the dealership and offered dad a sizable amount for the car. And he sold it.

In the spring of 1998, 11 years later, Dad and I were driving out to the lake and sure as heck, there it was again, certainly in need of a restoration. We bought it back and I restored it again. I spent the summer cruising in it with my wife and son, and finally when Kelly and I were to be married, we shipped the car to West Palm Beach, FL and it was our wedding car.

The car was sold to a Collector in Germany.

When I was 14 my dad said to me, "I want you to start understand how cars work" We walked to the back part of the lot that there was a silver 1979 Capri sitting there. I bought it from the dealership for $1 and spent the next two years restoring it. It was my first of many cars, some of them Mustangs.

When I turned 16 he gave me a White 4cyl convertible to drive for the summer. How I dreamed I had a GT, but I learned very quickly that even being irresponsible in a 4cly can get you in trouble. One day I was driving down a gravel road top down, car full of friends, and I swerved to avoid something on the road and went down into the steep ditch sideways. We came very close to flipping the car and killing everyone for sure, as I was driving far to fast for pavement, never mind gravel roads.

The summer I turned 18 Dad got another GT Conv. A red one, red interior, and his 1st manual transmission GT, again my immaturity and lack of driving experience nearly killed myself, my girlfriend at the time, and my best friend. Later that summer an acquaintance of mine was street racing his 1986 GT, lost control and was killed. My love affair with Mustangs ended for a while.

I went away to College and drove trucks most of the time. When I returned from College, I worked at our Ford store eventually Dad transferred my to our Jaguar Store, I drove lots of nice cars, but still missed the Mustangs over at the Ford store. Eventually he sold the Jaguar Dealership and I moved back to the Ford Dealership. I drove 6 cyl Convertibles for the summer and F150's in the winter.

January of 2003 our used car manager bought 3 GT convertibles, IN JANUARY in Winnipeg! Needless to say, the cars sat around waiting for spring. One of the cars, a Mineral Grey GT convertible, sat in the showroom just outside my office door.

My Birthday, June 2nd rolled around and I decided to treat myself and take home that same Mineral Grey GT convertible that was in the showroom, for the weekend, it had the standard wheels, but I was in love. I bought it for myself and the rest is history.

This is the 1st car I have owned, personally, in years. I usually drive company Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4. Like my other vehicles I just couldn't leave it alone.

I Autocross / Solo II raced it regularly.

I love restoring cars .
