The year 1999 marked the Mustang's 35th anniversary, and Ford reacted appropriately by freshening up the Mustang lineup. Most noticeably, the new Mustang's bodywork was revised. The style was still based on the SN95 but now sported an edgier, more masculine look. The grill corral was re-introduced; the last Mustang to wear it was the 1973 model.
