READ MOREHey everybody, Dave here from AmericanMuscle.com, and as you can see I have with me the Barton Industries short throw shifter, designed specifically for the manual 2011 and newer Mustangs. Now, a short throw shifters idea is to shorten the amount of time between shifts, this particular product, as we’re going to find out later when we install it, claims to reduce your shift time by 40% over stock, making it a pretty remarkable product if it holds up. Now, this part goes right in place with no major or permanent modifications to your factory shifter. If you ever wanted to go back to stock you certainly could, but with a unit like this, you’re probably not going to want to. We’re going to install this in our 2011 GT today and take it out for a test drive. First things first then, let’s get a stock run with the stock parts on the car to see what that feels like. That second to third gear is just not crisp, it’s a little tricky really, had to hang onto the clutch a little longer than I would have liked to, and third to fourth just flat out feels far and long, not horrible, but not really a fan. We just got back from our stock run with what we felt like a luxury shift that was already installed from the factory, at this point we’re going to go ahead and remove that, we’re going to take our Barton Industries short throw shifter and get this installed in our 2011 GT. We’ll take it back out, get your honest opinion, once again. So we’re taking our 2011 manual 50 back out now with our Barton Industries short throw shifter installed. Something you’ll notice about this shifter right out of the gate is how much shorter it is from the console, I happen to really like that look and get the sporty look back in the interior. I’m also a big fan of how it feels just ripping through the gears real quick pulling out of the parking lot. Really liking what I feel so far going into third gear, not just from second to third but even down shifting from fourth to third, very crisp and it really helps me know that I’m in the gear. Here we go, look at how quick that was, right into fourth gear, no hesitation, no delay, no question. This is a great product, greatly reduces the throw and the distance, greatly reduces my time between shifts and confidence is always there. Very impressed with removing our stock shifter and installing the Barton Industries short throw shift on our 2011 manual 50. Well the verdict is in after our test drive, and the Barton Industries short throw shifter for the 2011 and newer Mustang manuals, big two thumbs up. Not only utilising that reverse lockout that I never questioned whether I was in first gear, or reverse, but the amount of reduction between first and second, and the aid from second to third that I received from this shifter, was second to none. We gave it a rave review and we think that for your dollar, a Barton Industries short throw shifter, is a great way to go.
