Hey it’s Mike from AmericanMuscle.com, today we’re going to take a look at the JLT cold air intakes for your 2011 Mustang GT. One made out of durable plastic, the other made out of lightweight carbon fiber. These cold air intakes replace your factory restrictive air box, by increasing air flow to your Mustang’s engine, you’ll notice increased horse power, better acceleration, improved throttle response, and better fuel economy, especially when you add a bama tune. These really are must have modifications for performance. Before installing the intakes, we did a stock dyno run to get some baseline numbers. Stock, our 2011 Mustang GT automatic 344 horse power and 301 ft/lbs of torque. The JLT carbon fiber intake kit comes with a high flow reusable air filter, lightweight carbon fiber inlet tube, silicone hoses, all the hardware, and a plastic heat shield. First we installed the JLT carbon fiber kit. Along with the cold air intake, we also installed one of our 93 octane bama race tunes. A custom tune from bama performance adjusts engine parameters to maximize performance, through optimized air/fuel ratio, spark advance, enhanced throttle response, variable cam timing, and for automatics, increased shift firmness and adjustable shift points. After installing the JLT carbon fiber intake and a bama race tune, we did another dyno run. We the JLT carbon fiber intake and our bama tune, our 2011 GT put down 365 horse power and 341 ft/lbs of torque, gaining as much as 57 horse power and 55 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. Next, we installed the JLT cold air intake with the plastic tubing. The JLT kit comes with a high flow reusable air filter, plastic molded inlet tube, silicone hoses, all the hardware, and a plastic heat shield. After installing this kit with our bama race tune, we did one more dyno run. The JLT intake kit with plastic tubing made an identical 365 horse power and 341 ft/lbs of torque while also gaining us 57 horse power and 55 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. Both JLT kits were easy to install with simple hand tools in under an hour’s time, whether you decide to go with the lightweight carbon fiber intake tube, or the plastic intake tube, they’ll both gain you as much as 57 horse power and 55 ft/lbs of torque.... More Usable Horsepower. With a JLT cold air intake and a custom tune installed on your 2011 (or newer) GT you can expect to see average gains of 24 to 30 more horsepower at the rear wheels across the entire RPM range. In addition to an increase in horsepower you will also see a great improvement in your throttle response as well.

Carbon Fiber Construction. The induction tube of this JLT cold air intake is made from real carbon fiber, not only for its good looks, but for its resistance to heat soak to supply cooler denser air to the intake manifold.

Money Saving Reusable Filter. This JLT cold air intake kit comes complete with a high flow reusable S&B brand air filter. So that means there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Now you can just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Required Upgrade. Installation of this JLT Performance CAI requires the use of a custom-tuned SCT SF3/X3 PowerFlash or SCT LiveWire tuner to reprogram the cars computer for the Cold Air Intake.

Application. This JLT Cold Air Intake is specifically designed for use on the 2011-2013 5.0 GT Mustang with either a manual or automatic transmission. Requires a new computer tune.

Technical note. Installation of this JLT Performance CAI requires the use of a custom-tuned SCT SF3/X3 PowerFlash or SCT LiveWire tuner to reprogram the cars computer for the Cold Air Intake. Technical Note. Automatic equipped Mustangs will require drilling an extra hole into the induction tube for proper installation.
