How to Install a Retro Billet Grille for a 2010-2012 Mustang GT

Tools Required

  • Flat Head & Phillips Head Screwdrivers
  • Ratchet with 7mm, 8mm, & 10mm Sockets
  • Drill with 3/16 Bit
Installation Time: 30 Minutes

Installation

  1. Remove plastic radiator shroud cover by removing seven plastic retaining pins with a flat-headed screwdriver.

  2. Remove two upper headlight mounting bolts (10mm), and two upper bumper cover mounting bolts (8mm).

  3. Use a flat-headed screwdriver to carefully pry the four outermost mounting tabs of the grille (two on each side) from the bumper cover. Once these outer tabs are loose, carefully but firmly pull up and out on the grille to fully release it from the bumper cover. Make sure to unplug the fog light wiring harness before completely removing grille from the vehicle. Use zip-ties to secure the harnesses to the radiator support as they will not be used after this install.

    The below photo shows the mounting points of the grille to the front bumper cover:

  4. Remove the fog lights from the grille using a 7mm socket.

  5. Remove the inner grille assembly from the outer grille assembly by first removing the corners of the grille (shown in yellow), and then by carefully prying the remaining mounting tabs (shown in red) with a flat-headed screwdriver.

  6. Place the billet grille inside of the outer factory grill shell. Once you have the desired location of the billet grille in the shell, use a drill and 3/16 bit to drill holes for the mounting hardware as shown.

  7. Once your mounting holes are drilled, place the four supplied U-nuts on the four mounting tabs of the grille and secure it to the outer factory grille shell using the four supplied screws as shown.

  8. Once your billet grille is fastened securely to the outer factory grille shell, re-install the grille into the front bumper cover and reverse Steps 1-3 to complete installation.
