Dave with AmericanMuscle.com and I have with me an item that’s highly reviewed and highly rated by our customers. It’s the Pypes Polished Shorty Headers for the 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. A shorty style header is a great entry level header especially compared to your factory manifolds. The factory exhaust manifolds are a cheap one piece cast iron design, and they are easy to manufacture and extremely restrictive. In fact, they retain heat, they restrict exhaust flow, and they look rusted and ugly before you know it. A shorty style header is going to go directly in place of your factory exhaust manifold, Meaning, it’s going to go into your same exact location, it’s going to have the same length as your factory manifold, and bolt up the head on one side and your factory length mid pipe on the other. Meaning there’s no other items to purchase and no other items required, unlike when you run the long tube headers. Now unlike your bulky and restrictive factory exhaust manifolds these Pypes Polished Shorty Headers, they are made from stainless steel; they are 1-5/8” inch diameter and they are guaranteed to add horsepower and sound the moment you bolt them on to your mustang. Since these are going to allow the motor to expel the exhaust gases faster from the head you can count on these delivering not only more sound but about 8-10 more horsepower with no tuning required. A common question our customer service reps get all the time is “Hey, if I pick up a shorty style header do I need a shorty mid-pipe?” The Answer is no, a shorty style mid-pipe is only utilized when you pick up a long tube header. A shorty style header is going to go ahead and use your factory length mid-pipe to ease installation. Just by looking at these headers you can tell they are a quality product, they are polished to a high quality shine, and they are manual banked to guarantee you’re going to get top notch looks and performance out of these headers. Pypes has taken a lot of time to do in house testing on these headers which are made with reinforced stainless steel. They are making sure they are going to outshine, outflow, and out last your factory exhaust manifolds and like all the other products from Pypes they are backed by their limited lifetime warranty. The high polished shine is going to come in handy when trying to view the header, its located way down in the engine bay and can be a bit of a bear to view as well as to work on, so if you do leave the install to the professionals there is no shame in that. If you think you are up for the challenge I recommend you give yourself a full afternoon if not a full day, and I would certainly lay out the tools beforehand to make it that much easier. You want to have a full socket set with extensions; you want to have some penetrating glue to get the factory manifolds bolts off, your also going to want to make sure you have a gasket remover to make sure everything is cleaned off before installing your headers. Even though these headers are designed to bolt up to your factory mid-pipe, we recommend you have the entire exhaust system upgrade at the same time to give yourself maximum gains in flow and the maximum gains in performance. I’ll tell you, by getting rid of the factory mid-pipe and upgrading everything at once you’ll absolutely notice a tone change by the added air flow. The Polished Pypes Shorty Headers comes with all of the hardware and gaskets you need for installation and it works well with your factory length mid-pipes, or aftermarket full length mid-pipe to add performance and sound to all 2005-2010 3-valve mustangs....
