Retro Styling. Now you can complete the look of your S197 Mustangs stock factory hood with a late 60's style hood scoop for great retro styling. This aftermarket Mustang hood scoop is not only made of durable high impact plastic for a long life, but comes pre-painted to match your Mustangs factory color straight out of the box!

to match your stock Ford Mustang colors exactly. It will give your Pony a cool, retro appearance that will make it stand out from the rest of the herd.

Quality Construction. Molded from ultra-durable high impact plastic, using the original Ford CAD data for a perfect fit, this retro style hood scoop is painted with the same base coat and clear coat urethane paint Ford uses on the exterior of your Mustang for a perfect color match.

Simple Straight Forward Installation. No messy bondo or fiberglass is required for installation. The Pre-Painted Hood Scoop installs with the supplied hardware, drilling template, and 3M doubled sided automotive bonding tape for a quick installation.

Application. The Pre-Painted Mustang Hood Scoop is designed to be a perfect fit on any 2005 to 2009 GT, V6, Coupe or Convertible Ford Mustang and measures width: 16 1/2", length: 26 1/2", height: 1 3/4". Does not cover holes left by stock factory hood scoop, new holes will be need to be drilled for proper use of installation hardware.

Hi I’m Heather from AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m going to show you how to install this pre-painted hood scoop for the 05-09 GT and V6 Mustang. Before we start, make sure you have all the included accessories ready. This will be the scoop, the plastic insert, the adhesive promoter and alcohol prep pads, the nuts and clips – there should be 7 of each, the template, the 3M tape, and the installation instructions. For this install you’ll also need a 3/8 ratchet, with 9mm and 11mm sockets, a flat head screwdriver, masking tape, and a drill with a 3/16 drill bit. To begin, open out the template and remove the areas marked for the washer nozzles. To make the template easier to position on the car, you can cut along the solid line. Once the holes are cut out, as well as the template, you can now position it on the car so that the holes fit over the washer nozzles. Once you have the template in place, make sure it is as snug as possible, you can use masking tape on the corners to keep it in place. Now that the template is in place, open the hood and use your flat head screwdriver to remove the clips that are holding the hood insulation in place. Now that we’ve removed the insulation, it’s time to drill the holes, you’ll see the 7 circles on the template designated as drill points. Before you drill, it helps to use a punch and a hammer to make indentations in the hood that make it easier to drill. Now that we’re ready to drill, just line your drill bit up with the center of the X. Now that we’re finished drilling our holes we can remove the template. The next step is to prep the hood scoop and the insert with the adhesion promoter, you’re going to use the adhesion promoter on the 3 edges of the scoop where you’re going to put the tape, and also on the back of the insert. This step is very important because the adhesion promoter helps the tape create a permanent bond between the surface of the scoop and the insert. Next we’ll use the alcohol prep pad to prep the surface of the hood where the scoop will be installed. We’re going to apply the two shorter strips of tape to the back of the insert. Now we’re going to apply the three longer strips of tape to the edges of the scoop. Next you’re going to peel the backing off the tape on the insert and apply it to the scoop. The 3 guidance posts should line up with the holes in the hood scoop. Once you have it lined up, press it down firmly so the 3M tape creates a secure bond with the hood scoop. Now that we have the insert in place, we’re going to take the clips and install them on the underside of the hood scoop. These will line up the bolts with the holes that we’ve drilled in the hood. Now we’re going to peel the backing off the tape on the scoop. Now we’re ready to install the hood scoop on the car. Carefully set the scoop on top of the hood, making sure all 7 bolts go through the drilled holes, once the bolts are through the holes, lift the hood and secure the bolts with the supplied nuts from underneath the hood. Once you tighten the nuts down lower the hood and firmly push down on the hood scoop to make sure the 3M tape bonds to the surface of the hood. All that’s left to do is reinstall the hood liner with the clips you removed earlier. And with that, installation is finished and you’ve given your Mustang a great retro look.
